My Most Recent Batch Of CBD Doesn't Work As Well As The Last Batch - Why?

If you’ve landed on this page, first and foremost we want to say that we apologize that you are anything less than thrilled with your product, and if this blog post does not answer your question satisfactorily, please reach out to our Customer Care Team at info@bluebirdbotanicals.com for further assistance.

Now: let’s talk about CBD and hemp extract variance.

Hemp extract, because it is a plant extract, by nature, going to have variance in the content of the product. Why?

Because each hemp plant is unique.

Each hemp plant has its own concentration of CBD and the various other phytocannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and all of the other good hemp plant matter that makes it into your CBD bottle by way of extraction

And we’re talking more than just the variance between different types of strains - even distinct hemp crops from the same Cannabis sativa family will have differences in their cannabinoid profile and makeup based on other environmental factors like soil nutrients, temperature, and more making an impact.

This variance is one of the many reasons Bluebird Botanicals chooses to conduct extensive third-party lab testing on every single batch of our products. With our third-party lab-tested database, customers can easily access the result from the specific batch of their product to confirm the concentrations of CBD, CBN, CBG, and the other cannabinoids present. These reports also include testing information indicating the absence of pesticides and other contaminants.

All of this is to say: the “same” CBD product, even if produced from the same hemp strain and undergoes the same extraction process, will have minor variances in the contents of the hemp plant. This leads to differences in the amount of CBN, CBG and other cannabinoids that play an important role in the entourage effect - the phenomenon of all parts in the hemp plant working together in concert to make an even bigger impact on homeostasis.

Because of this, and because everyone’s individual endocannabinoid system is unique, what you receive in your bottle may not have the exact same balance of cannabinoids, so may produce a different effect on your body.

If you want to try pinpointing your “cannabis formula” if you will, try referencing the batch report for your favorite bottle of CBD, and note the ratio of CBD to THC, CBN, CBG and the other cannabinoids. You may be able to identify a pattern, and may try to supplement your CBD regimen with additional terpenes or cannabinoids to help you achieve that perfect balance you are striving for.

To sum it up, variance happens with natural products. We do the best we can to remove as much variance as we can and standardize our products from batch to batch.
