Wintery Lemon Ginger Brew
This cozy non-alcoholic brew, with a sweet note of lemon ginger syrup, is perfect for snuggling up on chilly winter nights. Add a cinnamon stick garnish for extra flair and flavor!
Ingredients
- For lemon ginger syrup: 1 lemon; two large pieces of ginger, with peel; 1 cup cane sugar; 2 cups water
- 10 to 12 ounces brewed black tea (we recommend Bigelow as a fellow B Corp!)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
Steps
To make the lemon ginger syrup:
- Cut peel from lemon. Place 2 pieces of ginger and lemon peel in food processor and finely chop.
- Add the mixture to a saucepan. Add sugar plus 2 cups of water and boil. Once boiling, bring to a simmer for 10 minutes.
- Strain mixture. Syrup can be stored for up to 1 week.
To make the beverage:
- Brew 10-12 ounces of black tea in a saucepan.
- Once tea is brewed, add honey, lemon ginger syrup, and lemon juice. Heat the mixture until the honey dissolves. Serve in a mug with a cinnamon stick.
