What Does It Mean To Be A Certified B Corporation®?
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
But what does this all really mean?
In order to become certified, a company must demonstrate how its operations and business model positively impact its workers, community, environment, and customers. This includes everything from supply chain and input materials to charitable giving and employee benefits.
The B Corp assessment is holistic in scope - it measures a company’s performance across the five categories of governance, workers, customers, community, and the environment. The assessment is rigorous and the certification is difficult to obtain. In order to become certified, a company must demonstrate how its operations and business model meet benchmarks for each of these criteria - and then continually uphold this commitment in order to be re-certified every 3 years.
Bluebird Botanicals worked for over a year and a half in order to receive this designation, and became one of the first CBD companies in the world to earn the certification in 2019. We've joined over 3,100 businesses worldwide who have achieved this merit. We are extremely proud to have been recognized for our commitment to being responsible stewards of our planet and communities; however, we recognize that our work doesn't stop here. We are committed to expanding our practices
There are several core principles that B Corporations follow that continue to inform all of our business decisions.
Environmental Responsibility
We only work with supply chain partners whose source materials and processes have been thoroughly vetted to ensure consistent quality across our product line. Our industry-leading quality standards keep harmful ingredients out of our formulas.
We partner with hemp farmers in Colorado who use organic regenerative agricultural practices including minimal tillage, carbon sequestration, nutrient cycling, and Tier 4 tractors with lower emissions. Our farmers also grow their crops pesticide-free in pristine conditions.
Community Support
We provide education about botanical wellness solutions and the importance of clean ingredients in supplements. We also donate to trusted non-profit partners including Veterans Community Project, The Okra Project, Queer Asterisk, and many more.
Employee Wellness
Growth is vital to every individual and every organization. Bluebird recognizes that one of the best gifts it can give its employees is the ability to grow in their careers and on a personal level, too. Bluebird’s executive team leaders actively seek development opportunities for each of its employees and strive to guide them in the direction they want to grow.
