Bluebird Botanicals Hemp Complete: CBD + CBDA
Our Hemp Complete blend is a special formulation of various hemp extracts with an extra serving of terpenes. It contains 50% decarboxylated CBD and 50% non-decarboxylated (CBDA – the raw version of the molecule directly from the plant). To this, we add a steam distilled extract of terpenes – the molecules that give the smell to many of the plants we love and help contribute to the entourage effect. With both forms of cannabinoids plus the steam distilled hemp, this blend is the most comprehensive hemp product that we know of.
1. Full-spectrum hemp CBD extract (250+ mg cannabinoids per fluid ounce: 125 raw + 125 heated)
2. Steam distilled hemp extract (hemp terpenes, flavonoids, aldehydes, ketones)
3. Organic extra virgin olive oil
Full-Spectrum CBD Extract – CBD + CBDA
Full-spectrum extract of agricultural hemp contains naturally occurring cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, aldehydes, ketones, vitamins, trace minerals, omega fatty acids, protein, and more. Additionally, the hemp extract in our Hemp Classic blend contains both raw (CBDA) and heated cannabinoids (CBD). CBDA, or cannabidiolic acid, is the non-decarboxylated/raw form of CBD. CBDA transforms into CBD when carbon dioxide and hydrogen are removed. This can occur naturally as exposure to heat and light causes the plant to age, or it can occur by applying heat directly to the cannabinoids.
Steam Distilled Hemp Extract
Our steam (water) distilled CBD hemp oil contains at least 26 different aromatic terpenes plus various aldehydes and ketones. Steam distillation is an extraction technique that uses heat in the form of steam to break down plant matter and extract nutrients. Although this method tends to be less precise for extracting cannabinoids from hemp, it is very effective at extracting terpenes, aldehydes, and ketones. Terpenes, in particular, play a significant role in the way cannabis interacts with the body. The “entourage effect” is a common term used to describe the way the cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids in cannabis all work together to modulate how CBD and THC interact with the endocannabinoid system.
Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Our organic extra virgin olive oil is an excellent, nutritious carrier oil for our hemp extract. CBD is lipid-soluble, which means it is more easily absorbed into the bloodstream when consumed with other fats. The concentration of healthy fats in olive oil and its pleasant taste make it a perfect carrier oil for our CBD hemp.

Helpful CBD Complete Terms
Amino Acids – Organic compounds that combine to form proteins and can be used as a source of energy by the body.
Cannabidiol – CBD stands for cannabidiol, one of the most abundant cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant that has been well studied for its effect on human health.
Cannabidiolic Acid – CBDA stands for cannabidiolic acid, which is the raw or acidic form of CBD. CBDA is derived from CBG and converts to CBD as it is exposed to light and heat.
Cannabinoids – A class of naturally occurring molecules primarily found in the cannabis plant.
Entourage Effect – The entourage effect describes the synergy of all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, ketones, and other components of the cannabis plant that work together for good. Essentially, the whole cannabis plant is greater than the sum of its parts.
Flavonoids – Flavonoids are a group of natural substances found in fruits, vegetables, grains, bark, roots, stems, teas, and wine. They play a variety of biological roles in plants, including providing flavor and aroma as well as attracting pollinators.
Full-Spectrum Hemp Extract – A full-spectrum hemp extract describes a product with the entire array of 100+ cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, plus the additional range of beneficial compounds like terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids, etc. It utilizes a much larger part of the plant versus isolate products that single out only one compound of the cannabis plant, such as CBD.
Omega Fatty Acids – A group of dietary polyunsaturated fats that cannot be manufactured by the body. They play many important roles in the body including supporting heart health, mental health, reducing weight, decreasing liver weight, and so forth. The fats are used primarily for energy. It is important to maintain the correct balance of omega 3, omega 6, and omega 9 fatty acids.
Phytocannabinoids – Cannabinoids produced within a plant such as cannabis and also found in a few other species such as echinacea, radula, black pepper, and even chocolate (cocoa).
Terpenes – The primary constituent of many essential oils found in plants like cannabis. Terpenes are what give cannabis and other plants their distinct smell and flavor.
