We already know hemp is an amazing plant. But did you know its seeds provide incredible nutritious value? Here are just a few of our favorite facts about our friend the hemp seed:
Hemp seeds provide all essential amino and fatty acids needed to keep us alive.
With a high prevalence of two essential fatty acids, omega-6 and omega-3, hemp seeds are great for us! No other single plant source contains these essential amino acids in such an easily digestible form.
Hearty hemp seeds are a plant-based source of protein, and are very nutritious.
Technically classified as a nut, about 25 percent of the total calories of hemp seeds comes from protein, compared with chia seeds and flax seeds that tend toward 16-18 percent protein to calorie ratio. Hemp seeds also contain minerals like phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, iron and zinc.
Hemp hearts, especially those with their outer hull intact, are a great source of fiber.
Fiber is essential for a healthy diet and good for digestion. And, because hemp hearts have a mild flavor and can be roasted or eaten raw, they have diverse culinary applications! Check out our CBD summer salad recipe for a recipe to kickstart using hemp hearts in your kitchen.
Bluebird’s CBD products are made using the entire hemp plant, including the seeds, stalks, and flower, so you’re already getting some of the good stuff with your CBD. If you need to reorder your personal supply or want to try out the recipe above, click below to shop.
