Celebrating Endangered Species Day!

endangered species

Join us in celebrating the 15th anniversary of Endangered Species Day! This annual event hosted by our friends at the Endangered Species Coalition is an opportunity for people of all ages to celebrate and learn about endangered species and how to protect them. One of the coalition’s primary objectives is to provide endangered species conservation and related information/resource material to the community for education and increased awareness.

Today is also an occasion to celebrate all of the plant and animal species as well as their natural habitats that have been saved through the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Although many species like the bald eagle have been successfully protected and saved from extinction, tens of thousands of other species still need our help.

The Endangered Species Coalition recently shared some tips on how you can help keep our beloved plant and animal friends safe from extinction. Here are some of the simplest ways to participate at home:

  1. Learn about the endangered species in your area.
  2. Minimize the use of herbicides and pesticides.
  3. Reduce your water usage and waste.
  4. Recycle and buy sustainable products to help minimize damage to the rainforest and other threatened environments.
  5. Be vocal about your support for protection and conservation efforts for endangered plant and animal species.

Check out their ten other easy tips for protecting your natural neighbors!

You can help spread the word and support the protection of imperiled species by raising your voice online and putting your pin on the map! Don’t forget to use the hashtags #StopExtinction ane #EndangeredSpeciesDay. The Endangered Species Coalition is also hosting other virtual family-friendly events to participate in today in celebration of this special day.

Thank you for joining us on our mission to make happy and healthy lifestyles radically accessible to ALL inhabitants of our planet.
